1. Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0)

The Sooners have made easy work of everyone on their schedule and won’t likely struggle against an opponent until Oct. 18 when Kansas State comes to town.

2. Baylor (3-0, 0-0)

Baylor continues to roll offensively. Their lax schedule might be a part of their statistical success, but right now they look almost unstoppable. As of now, everyone has their eyes on the Nov. 8 matchup against the Sooners.

3. Kansas State (2-1, 1-0)

If not for their kicking woes against No. 5 Auburn, the Wildcats would be undefeated and probably near the top 10, but that’s not the case.

4. Oklahoma State (2-1, 0-0)

The only blemish on the Cowboys schedule is a 37-31 loss to No. 1 Florida State from week one. They have made short work of their last two opponents, winning by a combined score of 83-36. We’ll see if that pace continues as conference play begins.

5. TCU (2-0, 0-0)

One of four undefeated Big 12 teams, TCU has yet to play any real competition. A good showing against SMU this week might set up a trap game when Oklahoma visits on Oct. 4.

6. West Virginia ( 2-2, 0-1)

West Virginia might surprise a few people at this spot, but the Mountaineers’ only losses have come from top 4 teams and both losses were by no more than 12 points. They also rank fifth overall in passing yards with 401.8 and are averaging 37.5 points per game.

7. Texas Tech (2-1, 0-0)

The Red Raiders rank 17th right now in passing yards with 327.3 yards per game, but a loss against Arkansas on Sept. 13 is keeping them from ranking any higher right now.

8. Texas (1-2, 0-0)

Texas coach Charlie Strong and his players are in a weird developmental phase. Seems like the whole team is still trying to figure things out as the post-Mack Brown era continues.

9. Kansas (2-1, 0-0)

Even with a 2-1 record, the Jayhawks are still at the backend of the rankings. Kansas is averaging 20.3 points per game right now, which ranks them 110th in the nation.

10. Iowa State (1-2, 0-1)

A big win against in-state rival Iowa has Iowa State riding high right now, but this weekend’s showdown with Baylor might very well bring them down to earth. However, crazier things have happened at night games in Jack Trice Stadium.
