ISU women’s cross country places first at Bulldog Classic, men’s team finishes last

Sophomore Heidi Engelhardt battled through rain to earn the top spot for the ISU women’s team at the Bulldog 4K Classic Friday evening.

Engelhardt’s 14:44 time finished first, followed by redshirt sophomore teammates Julie Wiemerslage, Taylor McDowell and Colleen Riley. The second, third and fourth place finishers clocked times of 14.45, 14.46 and 14.50.

Iowa State won the meet scoring 19 points. Drake finished in second with 67 points, followed by Northern Iowa, Iowa and Creighton.

Redshirt junior Tyler Jerman was the first Cyclone to cross the finish line for the men’s team. Jerman finished the race with a time of 12:45.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will return to action on Sept. 27 when they travel to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete in the Roy Griak Invitational.
