Sweet dreams are made of cheese

Grilled Cheese

Renae Meines

THE CLASSIC: American cheese between two slices of buttered bread, then grilled and served up with a bowl of tomato soup. While this is an oldie and a goodie, try out these new flavor combinations! They are a great way to add good things into your diet while remaining easy to whip up after a long day.

Much like the art of pasta, you can use whatever you have laying around the pantry, add it to the grilled cheese, and hope for success.

THE TUNEY LOONEY: Hummus, canned tuna, fried egg, and American cheese. Pictured above on whole grain bread.

THE SPECIAL: Black pepper deli turkey, rosemary, and havarti. Bonus: add mushrooms.

THE SWEET: Brie and red raspberry jam.

THE VEGETARIAN: Spinach, artichoke, mushroom, and mozzarella.

THE MAC N’ GRILLED CHEESE: Cooked ground beef, macaroni & cheese, and cheddar.

THE GRIDDLE: Bacon (may substitute with sausage patty), american cheese, scrambled or fried egg, and use waffle as bread. Regular bread is fine too, but for the true breakfast experience a waffle is a must-have.

THE HAWAIIAN: Ham cubes, pineapple tidbits, and mozzarella. Bonus: add bacon.

THE CHICKEN BACON RANCH: Deli chicken, bacon, ranch, and meunster. Add sliced tomato if desired.

THE TACO: Salsa, taco meat, and cheddar. May add extras as desired: lettuce, beans, sour cream, guac, etc.
