Hoiberg snags commitment from 7-footer

The ISU men’s basketball team’s recent commitment is, quite literally, a big one. Giorgos Tsalmpouris, a 7-foot-1 center from Greece, has verbally committed to the Cyclones’ 2014 recruiting class.

Tsalmpouris’ commitment accompanies that of Bryce Dejean-Jones, a graduate transfer from University of Nevada, Las Vegas who will be able to play immediately at Iowa State, and Clayton Custer, a four-star point guard who signed on Nov. 13, 2013.

Tsalmpouris averaged 27 points, 17 rebounds, 10 blocks and three assists for his U17 regional league team. He plans on playing for the Greek national team this summer before making his trek to Ames.
