The Cyclone Hockey team’s dream of a conference title was dashed on Saturday against Ohio.

The No. 10 Cyclones (33-10-3, 14-5-1 CSCHL) were knocked out of the Central States Collegiate Hockey League tournament after losing 2-1 in overtime to the No. 7 Bobcats (29-7-2, 14-4-1 CSCHL).

Both the Cyclones and the Bobcats were unable to put the puck in the back of the net in the first period.

Forward Joe Breslin put the Bobcats on top late in the second period, scoring a goal at the 4:12 mark.

Iowa State was able to tie the game 1-1 in the third with a goal by forward Alex Stephens. At the end of regulation the game was still tied, sending it into overtime.

In overtime, ISU goalie Matt Cooper surrendered a goal to OU forward Derek Rahmae to seal the win for the Bobcats.

The Cyclones will return home next weekend, Feb. 28-Mar. 1, for an exhibition series against the Edina Lakers.
