Cyclone Hockey falls victim to a four-goal third period

A poor third period ended in the Cyclone Hockey team losing 5-2 Central States Collegiate Hockey League rival Ohio.

The No. 7 Cyclones (25-8-2, 10-5-0 CSCHL) were able to keep it close for most of the first game of their two-game series against the No. 3 Bobcats (22-6-1, 11-1-3 CSCHL) on Jan. 17. But a third period that had four goals scored by the Bobcats was too much for the Cyclones to overcome.

OU forward Michael Harris put the Bobcats on the board with a goal in the first period. Harris’ goal was the only point allowed from either team for the rest of the period and for all of the second period.

The Bobcats sticks came alive in the third period with three early goals and an empty net goal in the final minutes. The Cyclones were able to respond with two goals of their own, one by forward Jon Feavel and the other by forward Chase Ray, but failed to mount the comeback.

The Cyclones will get a chance for revenge against the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio.
