The ISU track and field teams headed to Iowa City to compete in the Big 4 Duals this weekend. The Big 4 Duals include the four division one schools in Iowa: Iowa State, Drake, Northern Iowa and Iowa.

Competing against each team, the women’s team lost to UNI (86-59) and Iowa (91-47), and scored a victory again Drake (73-63) to go 1-2 on the weekend.

The Cyclones had especially strong performances in a couple of the field events, including the shot put and high jump events. Kelly McCoy won the high jump event with a top jump of 5 feet 8 inches. McCoy also won the event early this season at the Holiday Classic.

Christina Hillman bested the field by over eight feet in the shot put event with a throw of 55-01.00. Hillman was an All-American in the event last season.

On the track, Maggie Gannon won the 800-meter run and Bethanie Brown and Samantha Bluske finished second and third, respectively, in the mile run.

The women’s 4×400 relay team scored a second place finish behind Iowa.

The Cyclones will be in action again Jan. 25 at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational in Boston, Mass.
