ISU senior Jessica Reyes got the ball from fellow senior Emily Goldstein and scored seven minutes into the game, a lead the ISU soccer team held on to in the Cyclones’ 1-0 win against Oklahoma State on ISU senior night Friday, Nov. 2.

After a brief senior night presentation, rain started falling minutes before kickoff and made for a cold, wet start to the game. That did not deter the Cyclones, as Goldstein and Reyes connected for the early goal.

Oklahoma State outshot Iowa State 14-10, but the Cyclones found one more on goal shot and got their score. Senior goalkeeper Maddie Jobe recorded 3 saves and the shutout win.

The Cyclones (9-8-2, 3-4-1 Big 12) recorded their first winning record in the regular season since 2007 in Friday’s win. This season is ISU coach Wendy Dillinger’s first winning record at Iowa State.

The win propelled the Cyclones into a tie with Baylor for fourth place in the Big 12. Due to the head-to-head win against the Bears, the Cyclones were slotted as the No. 4 seed in the Big 12 tournament and are scheduled for a rematch with Baylor, who took the No. 5 seed.

Iowa State will travel to Kansas City, Mo., for the first round of the Big 12 Championship on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
