ISU tennis brings home a couple wins from Wildcat Invitational

The ISU tennis team finished its fourth tournament in Arizona this weekend, from Oct. 12 to 13, at the Wildcat Invitational and picked up wins along the way.

Junior Caroline Andersen remained undefeated through Friday after she beat Arizona’s Carly Cassity. However, her perfect record fell Saturday to Inge Hendrikx, of Arizona, in three rounds.

Freshman Lydia Green defeated University of Texas San Antonio’s Alena Shichkova 6-1, 6-3 on Sunday to win the title of the Crimson bracket.

Freshman Talisa Merchiers also finished off the weekend with a win against the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Lina Hallgren 6-4, 6-3.

The Cyclones lost both doubles matches against University of Texas at El Paso and California State University, Northridge.

Next weekend Iowa State heads to Norman, Okla., for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals competition.
