Following last week’s season opening tie against Nebraska, Iowa State traveled to South Dakota for a pair of duals this weekend.

The Cyclones (2-0-1, 0-0 Big12) hit the road to face off against South Dakota State (1-2) Friday, Oct. 18, and South Dakota (0-3) Saturday, Oct. 19. Iowa State started the weekend off with a 183-112 win against South Dakota State.

The Cyclones placed first in 15 of the 16 events on the evening. Some swimmers got a chance to participate in events that they don’t normally compete in.

ISU coach Duane Sorenson said he wanted to allow them a chance to work on other events, as well as allow his other swimmers a chance to “shine.” With the win, Iowa State pushes their all-time record against the Jackrabbits to 9-0.

On Saturday, Iowa State faced off against South Dakota. The Cyclones were able to win 13 of the 16 events on the day and finished with a 180 to 117 win against the Coyotes.

Once again Sorenson changed up the lineup and had his swimmers participate in different events. Iowa State improved to 7-0 all-time against the Coyotes with the win.

The Cyclones will have next weekend off before hitting the road again to face off against Nebraska-Omaha on Nov. 1.
