Iowa State offense dominant against Huntsville

Iowa State hockey picked up goals from 10 different players on their way to a 14-2 victory over the Huntsville Havoc Saturday night.

The Havoc got scored early in the first period with a goal by Justin Brausen.

From that point on it was all Cyclones. Iowa State had goals from Mike Leskun, two from Austin Parle, and Matt Szpak all the first period to give Iowa State a 4-1 lead at the end of one.

In the second period Eero Helanto picked up a goal to get the period scoring started. Iowa State also had goals from Austin Parle, completing a hat trick, Luke MacDonald, and Chase Rey. Those four goals game the Cyclones an 8-1 lead heading into the final period.

The Iowa State offense exploded out of the gates in the third period with a goal from Antti Helanto just over two minutes in.

Brausen picked up his second goal of the night for the Havoc. Then the Cyclones spouted out five goals to finish the game.

The goals in the third period were scored by Cory Sellers, Nate Percy, two from Chris Cucullu, and the scoring was rounded out by Matt Bennett.

Scott Ismond picked up the win in goal for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones moved to 4-0 on the year. The ISU hockey team’s next action will be Saturday and Sunday against the North Iowa Bulls.
