Iowa State’s Jeremiah George has been named to the 2013 Butkus Award watch list.

George, a senior linebacker from Clearwater, Fla., notched 87 tackles last year including four tackles for loss. Against Oklahoma, George made 17 stops including 13 solo tackles.

After the departures of A.J. Klein and Jake Knott, both of whom were named to the 2012 Butkus Award watch list, George returns to lead the Cyclone defense.

The Butkus award is annually awarded to the best linebacker in college former. Past winners include Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o and Texas A&M’s Von Miller.
