Losing streak continues for Cyclones

The ISU softball team could not find any answers to top-ranked Oklahoma for the second day in a row. The Sooners beat the Cyclones 8-0 in five innings Saturday afternoon in Norman, Okla. 

The Sooners (42-3, 10-1 Big 12) started the day offensively with Shelby Pendley’s three-run homer to left field in the first inning and added two more RBIs with a double in the second that put Oklahoma on top, 5-0.

Sophomore pitcher Taylor Smith (7-8) took the loss for the Cyclones. She gave up nine runs on 11 hits while walking six and striking out three.

Gascoigne (16-2) took the win for the Sooners. She threw all five innings against the Cyclones, giving up no runs on five hits, walked none and struck out four.

The Cyclones’ five hits came from Slater, Miller, Reese, Hawryluk and Spendlove. The team only reached third base once all game.

Oklahoma’s Pendley finished the game going three for four at the plate with seven RBIs.

The Cyclones (19-28, 4-10) will try to avoid the sweep against the nations top team on Sunday, April 28 in Norman. First pitch is slated for noon at the OU Sports Complex.
