Movie Review: Scary Movie 5

As a reviewer, I respect and most of the time can agree with other reviews who are pretty logical in their ratings and opinions on movies. One reviewer that recently caught my eye is Jeremy Jahns. Now I try really hard to remain obscenity free so I apologizes if you are offended with the crude language. He said it best when breaking down the most recent Scary movie film, Scary Movie Five, it is ‘Dog shit.’

I have never been a huge fan of the scary movie films because they honestly have lost their touch on humor. Not just because of changing directors, but because honestly, the first one was enough.

Scary Movie 5 Starts out with Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen in bed, obviously doing what they do best. I am sure you have seen the previews and thought, ‘ Oh hey, yeah this could be funny watching Sheen and Lohan making fun of horror films,’ well the joke is on you. Spoiler alert: They die practically two to three minutes into the movie. What you saw in the previews of them in the movie was practically it.

The movie goes on to make fun of Paranormal Activity, Evil Dead, sinister and they even threw in a couple spoofs on Inception and Planet of the Apes. Does that make sense? No. But they did it just because they can.

Sure it was humorous in a way to see Ashley Tisdale and some of the other random cameos thrown in there, but as long as elementary or middle school like jokes are being played time and time again in the same movie, I am out.

I have no idea who their market could be that they are trying to reach, but it is sad to think that there are people over the age of 13 who actually want to spend money on watching something as dumb and frustrating as Scary Movie 5. I could have spent better money seeing what I have read to be great movies like: Olympus Has Fallen, G.I. Joe or pretty much any other movie that was released this past weekend.

If there were a negative star rating, I would be using it right now. But, seeing as how there isn’t, I give this movie a .5 out of 5 stars. I advise you to spend your ticket money somewhere else this coming weekend and save yourself the guilt when wasting your money.
