The ISU women’s basketball team did something on Wednesday night no previous Cyclone squad had done in program history: Defeat Texas two times in the regular season.

No. 25 Iowa State defeated Texas 67-48 on Wednesday night in Austin, Texas. It was just the third win ever for the Cyclones (16-5, 7-4 Big 12) against the Longhorns (9-12, 2-8 Big 12) in Austin.

After a fast break layup by Texas guard Chassidy Fussell with 4:27 left in the first half bringing the Longhorns within one with a score of 25-24, Iowa State would go on a 14-0 run to close the half and go into halftime leading 39-24.

In the second half, the Cyclones continued to cruise not allowing the Longhorns to get within seven points throughout the rest of the game. Iowa State was able to give 10 players on its roster playing time in the 19-point win.

Center Anna Prins led ISU scorers with 19 points shooting 7-of-10 from the floor while chipping in five rebounds. Point guard Nikki Moody tallied 15 points in the win with seven assists, four rebounds, four steals and only one turnover.

Iowa State will return to Hilton Coliseum on Saturday to take on Kansas State for the first time this season. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
