Clyburn named Big 12 Rookie of the Week

For the second time this season, ISU men’s basketball player Will Clyburn is the Big 12 Rookie of the Week. 

Clyburn led Iowa State to a victory against No. 11 Kansas State on Saturday with 24 points and 10 rebounds. In two games on the week Clyburn averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. 

This season Clyburn, who transferred from Utah in 2011 and sat out last season, is averaging 14.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Clyburn is currently seventh in the Big 12 in scoring.

The award is the third rookie of the week award for the Cyclones this season. In addition to Clyburn’s two awards, freshman Georges Niang won the award Jan. 14 following a strong performance against Kansas. 

Iowa State returns to the court Wednesday against Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
