The event took place indoors at the Ames Racquet and Fitness due to weather conditions.

The ISU tennis team finished up the Florida Gulf Coast Invitation Monday in Ft. Myers.

Ksenia Pronina jumped quickly into a strong start for her spring season.

Ksenia Pronina finished in third place in the top bracket for singles. She finished 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 agains Florida Gulf Coast’s Sarah Means.

Pronina also made it into the top bracket competing in doubles with her partner, Simona Cacciuttolo. The team took second after losing 6-8 against Bardabush and Sprinkmeyer of North Texas.

Ana Gasparovic, who was competing in her first meet as a member of the ISU tennis team won her first match against Northwestern State’s Daniela Simonova.

“We did well, we competed and I think the tournament served its purpose,” said ISU coach Armando Espinosa, who was using the tournament to gauge the progress needed before beginning regular meets.

Iowa State competes next weekend against Iowa as a part of the Cy-Hawk rivalry at its first dual meet of the Spring Season.
