Letter to the editor: Romney’s explanation of election loss shows why Obama was better

Dean Prestemon

The audacious claim from candidate Mitt Romney (who has personally benefited from favorable tax rates on investment income and who has consistently supported corporate welfare) that Barack Obama won the election by handing out “gifts” to African Americans, Hispanics and young people is simply stunning in its hypocrisy. I suppose trying to explain to his wealthy donors why their huge investment will provide no return requires irresponsible, desperate allegations; however, it sounds more like a loser-whine than a rational explanation.

Remember, Mr. Romney, that one critical component of effective governance by a president in a democracy is to advocate for all the people and strive to improve quality of life for everyone; ironically, after being rejected, you deem it only necessary to communicate with your wealthy constituents and offer your apologies. We are so fortunate that the voters made the right choice on Nov. 6.
