Farm House Museum to have open house Saturday

Frances Myers

The Farm House Museum Open House will be Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will last until 4 p.m.

This event will be celebrating the beginning of the holiday season. The Farm House Museum, built in 1860 before campus was occupied by students or classrooms, was the first building on ISU campus and is also a National Historic Landmark.

According to the ISU Museums website: “Students played a prominent role in life at the Farm House — many students were hired to help with daily life or chores of Farm House matrons, assist in early farm work. In the late 1940s, the Farm House was used as a practice home for young women in the Home Economics Department.”
