Iowa State beats Loyola Marymount to begin Junkanoo Jam

Iowa State used a strong defensive effort on Friday afternoon to get its first win in the Junkanoo Jam defeating Loyola Marymount, 55-33 in the Bahamas.

With the win, the Cyclones improve to 3-0 on the season while the Lions fall to 3-3.

Forward Hallie Christofferson led the way for Iowa State with 11 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Center Anna Prins added 10 points, five rebounds and a block, while guard Brynn Williamson recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.

Forward Chelsea Poppens left the game with eight minutes left in the first half and did not return. Poppens, who had eight points and six rebounds before leaving, will not play on Saturday and will be reevaluated upon Iowa State’s return to Ames.

Iowa State will continue play in the Junkanoo Jam on Saturday where it will face Illinois at 9 a.m.
