The ISU volleyball team was never able to find a rhythm on offense and dropped its second match in the state of Kansas Wednesday night.

No. 22 Iowa State was defeated by No. 14 Kansas State in straight sets (15-25, 25-27, 17-25) in Manhattan, Kan.

Leading 18-14 in the second set, the Cyclones (8-6, 2-2 Big 12) were not able to avoid the sweep against the Wildcats (16-1, 3-1 Big 12) due to the out-of-system balls being presented to the offense throughout the night.

Outside hitter Victoria Hurtt led the Cyclone offense, registering 10 kills and hitting a .240 percentage through all three games.

As a team, Iowa State’s hitting percentage was .178 against Kansas State, which was .417 on the night.

Setter Alison Landwehr tallied 26 assists — 8.67 per set — for an offense that struggled to locate out-of-system balls off of the Wildcats’ attack.

Libero Kristen Hahn continued her strong defensive play, earning 18 kills, averaging 6 kills per set.

Kansas State improves to 9-0 on its home court. The Wildcats’ only loss on the season came against Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.

Iowa State will play its next match against Texas Tech Saturday in Lubbock, Texas. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
