Chamberlain lecture: Barbara Iverson

Barbara Iverson, the president of Webber Shandwick’s Industry Practice Group, will be coming to Iowa State as a part of the Chamberlain Lecture Series.
She has had 32 years of communications management in business, government and education. She was hired to Webber Shankwick in 1996, and has been involved in strategic and integrated communications planning and reputation/brand management. She had an emphasis in banking, electronic payment, retirement services and insurance industries.
Webber Shandwick’s Industry Practice Group caters to many high profile clients includeing: MasterCard Worldwide, the U.S. Treasury, Prudential Retirement, Ernst & Young, U.S. Bank and Federated Investors to the Allstate Foundation, LIFE, the Federal Reserve Bank, and many more.
As a well known name in the industry and public relations world, she is invited by many industry conferences as a keynote speaker and was named by PRWeek, the PR industries premier trade journal as a “Trailblazer in Financial Services.”
A 1976 graduate of the Greenlee School of Journalism, she did graduate work at George Washington University in Washington D.C.
She is to be awarded the 2012 James W. Schwartz Award for Distinguished Service to Journalism and Communication.
Her lecture is titled, Social Media: A Game Changer for Journalists, Public Relations and Advertising Professionals, and will take place at 8:00pm in Benton Auditorium in the Scheman Building.
