Early voting begins on campus

Daily Staff

Even though the election is still several weeks away, students who wish to beat the crowds on Election Day can cast their ballots early at six different locations around campus starting Monday.

Students who have not yet registered in Ames will need to prove their identity with the last 4 digits of their social security number or their Iowa drivers license number. For those who wait until Election Day to register, you will need photo ID and proof of residence (utility bill or hard copy of U bill will suffice).

While it is recommended that students bring an ID to vote, it is not required.

Students may also cast their ballots at the county auditors office until Nov. 5, or request an absentee ballot which should be mailed no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 2.

Six on-campus locations will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for voting:

  • Monday at UDCC room 136 and Maple-Willow-Larch Classroom 01C
  • Tuesday & Wednesday at the Memorial Union and Carver Hall lounge
  • Thursday & Friday at Parks Library and Kildee Hall atrium
