The ISU men’s golf team placed 10th overall at the Firestone Invitational on Tuesday in Akron, Ohio. Finishing with a final round of 303, the Cyclones ended with a total of 593 (290-303).

Sophomore Sam Daley led Iowa State through the tournament as he finished with the lowest Cyclone score, tying for 12th place. Daley carded a total of 145 (72-73) as he finished Tuesday’s round with one stroke over par.

Iowa State was without it’s top golfer, Scott Fernandez, for the second week in a row, as he competed in the World Amateur representing his home country, Spain. Competing against the best amateurs in the world, Fernandez tied for 13th overall as an individual on Sunday and tied for ninth with his Spanish team.

The team will return to competing on the green Oct. 27, when it travels to Greensboro, N.C., to play in the Bridgestone Golf Colligate.
