Huxley woman pleads guilty to second degree murder in deaths of newborn twins

Jackie Burkle, a mother from Huxley, was charged in the deaths of her newborn twins after they were found dead in the trunk of her car in Huxley. 

Burkle pleaded guilty Thursday, Aug. 16, to two counts of second degree murder in a plea agreement with prosecutors in Story County District Court. 

According to The Des Moines Register, Burkle’s attorney “says Burkle was sentenced to two 50-year prison sentences to be served concurrently.”

Burkle was arrested in January after the bodies of the newborns were found in the trunk of her car, according to the Register.
