Team PrISUm sits in second place heading into cross country trek

Team PrISUm, Iowa State’s solar car team, currently sits in second place following three days of competition in Monticello, N.Y.

Hyperion, the team’s solar car, completed 426 laps total. This puts them behind the first place car Quantum from the University of Michigan, which completed 449 laps.

According to a news release, Hyperion posted daily lap totals of 125, 146 and 155. On Thursday, the team was three laps short of the best performance along with having the fasted lap performance, clocking in at 2 minutes and 18 seconds. 

The team now heads into the eight day cross-country competition. Taking place July 14 to 21, Hyperion and the team will journey through eight states from Rochester, N.Y., to St. Paul, Minn., covering 1,650 miles.
