Eastbound lanes on Lynn Avenue to Beach Avenue will be closed on Wednesday, June 13, due to an emergency sanitary sewer repair on Lincoln Way.

The emergency repair will begin Wednesday morning at around 4:30 a.m. and include tearing out pavement, excavating the area, replacing the sanitary sewer pipe, and repaving the street. The work is expected to take all day Wednesday and may continue into Thursday.

According to a news release sent by the city of Ames, “Vehicle access on Lincoln Way will be maintained through head-to-head traffic from Lynn Avenue to Beach Avenue. However, vehicles will not be allowed to cross Lincoln Way from the north or south. The intersections of Lynn Avenue, Ash Avenue, Gray Avenue, Knoll Road and Union Drive at Lincoln Way will be closed during the repairs.”

Drivers are recommended to take extra caution in the area, reduce speed and be prepared to stop. They are also encouraged to allow additional travel time.
