This past weekend, the ISU men’s golf team competed in the Big 12 Championship in Trinity, Texas, and concluded with a seventh-place finish.

The team shot a total of 1,204 in the four-round tournament, which was 39 shots back from the lead.

Texas A&M came out with claiming the Big 12 title by defeating the top-ranked team, Texas, by two shots.

Senior Nate McCoy led the team, tying for 14th place by shooting a total of 297. McCoy got more comfortable with his game as the round went on and finished the tournament shooting a 70 on the final round.

Finishing his career at Iowa State, McCoy was named to the All-Big 12 first-team, which gives him an automatic bid in playing in the NCAA Regionals as an individual.

Freshman Sam Daley led the team throughout the first three rounds and finished tied for 18th place with a total of 299.

The team is waiting to see if it gets a bid into the NCAA Regional Invitational with its performance at the Big 12 Championship and from throughout the year and will be announced on Monday, May 7.
