Ben Durbin is coming back to Iowa to play his senior season at Jack Trice Stadium.

After spending the past four years in Wyoming, the Gilbert, Iowa, native graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, making him eligible to compete immediately during the 2012-13 season while he takes graduate classes.

During his prep career at Gilbert High School, Durbin was rated as the top linebacker in the state of Iowa during his senior season.

When he arrived in Wyoming, Durbin was initially a linebacker, but by the time he reached the field in 2010, he had moved to the defensive line.

This past season, Durbin made 28 tackles and forced two fumbles, starting eight games at defensive tackle for the Cowboys.

“I was at Wyoming for four years, and Laramie, Wyo., is a great place,” Durbin said in a news release. “This is not about Wyoming. I talked to my friends and family about it. Iowa State is doing great things under coach Paul Rhoads. Coming home is a dream. Believe me, I appreciate this opportunity.”
