Improvements launched for business page, mobile offerings

Back when I worked for the Daily as a news designer I used to say what I loved most about my job was that each day brought a blank page. That might not be the case in my current job, but that doesn’t mean we’re standing still.

Sunday we launched updates to our online business page, last week we pushed updates to our iOS and Android apps, we wrapped up improvements to our mobile site yesterday, and in the coming weeks we’ll launch an improved email edition.

Thanks to the dedication of business editor, Sarah Binder, we’ve increased the amount of content available online. We reorganized the page to highlight fresh content — both local and from our wire partners. We also began hosting an Iowa Startup and Entrepreneurs Calendar from Startup Iowa. The startup scene has grown tremendously in central Iowa, and we’re happy to provide a resource for students interested in the movement.

The latest update to our mobile apps introduced social sharing. Whenever you’re reading an article on the go, you can now share it through one of hundreds of social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

We’ve also made improvements to our mobile site. We reorganized the homepage to emphasize the newest content. We also made it easier to access traffic updates and TV listings.

The Daily is committed to being the number one news source for Iowa State, and to being anywhere you want it. Our work is never done, and we’ve always got a list of improvements in the queue. If you think there’s something we’re missing, let me know. Leave me a comment here, email me at [email protected] or call our digital media office at 515-294-4149.
