LAWRENCE, Kan. — Behind a 17-2 run midway through the second half, No. 10 Kansas erased a double-digit Iowa State lead and held off the upset-minded Cyclones late for a 82-73 victory at Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Senior guard Tyshawn Taylor scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half as the Jayhawks (14-3, 4-0 Big 12) won their seventh straight on the season. Sophomore forward Royce White led the Cyclones (12-5, 2-2) with 18 points and 17 rebounds, his fifth double-double on the season.

Ahead 59-53 with 12:01 left in the game, the Jayhawks caught fire offensively, making seven of nine shots to take a 70-61 lead. Iowa State cut that lead down to 72-70 with 6:37 remaining, but the Cyclones managed only one more field goal the rest of the way as Kansas picked up its seventh consecutive home win against Iowa State.

The Cyclones took an early 6-0 lead after 3s by White and sophomore forward Melvin Ejim before Kansas went on a 7-0 run to take its first lead in an up-and-down beginning to the game. The Cyclones responded with a 11-0 run to take a double-digit lead, and they would lead for the rest of the half, taking a 43-40 halftime lead.

Due to first-half foul trouble, White played only 12 minutes in the first half but still managed a double-double — 10 points, 10 rebounds — to lead the Cyclones at the break. Guard Chris Allen led all scorers with 13.
