Letter to the editor: Walker’s letter lashes out in anger, hurts wrong targets

Brandon Gaston

Professor Walker appears to have some hostility in his heart, so he has chosen to lash out in anger. Usually when we do this, it tends to hurt the wrong people. I can’t really say what is going through his head as I’m not him, so this is just speculation.

I have my own issues with the things our government does in foreign lands, but I’m not going to spew hateful words toward the men and women loyally serving our nation. Sur, they can afford to supply their needs and yes, a soldier’s family does send care packages, but he seems to miss the mark as to what a gift is for. It is a kind gesture and display of affection or gratitude.

There is no way for anybody to purchase such a thing. Who is he to tell people who they are to give gifts to? I guess he is the official “gifting regulatory authority.” I’m sure he is in a comfortable place being a professor at Iowa State, so why should anybody do something nice for him since he can afford to supply his own needs? The beautiful thing about our nation is he is free to speak his mind and we are free to learn how to forgive him.
