Wind advisory in effect for Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a wind advisory for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A cold front will push through causing winds to shift from the west to the northwest, according to the advisory.

Winds are expected to increase throughout the morning and reach their strongest point in the mid-afternoon hours. Sustained winds are expected to be between 20 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.

The winds are expected to diminish around sunset.
