Jami Larson — 2nd Ward

Background:

Jami Larson has served on the Ames City Council since 2006. He retired as president and gneral manager of ACI Mechanical Corporation in 2005, and remains a board member at both Ames National Corporation and First National Bank of Ames. Larson is an ISU graduate of business and remains close with the university. He is especially involved in the revival of the campus fraternity Delta Upsilon.

Previous influence in City Council:

Larson has shown a strong tie to the university and supported a healthy relationship with the city of Ames. He exhibited his passion for growth and development by helping remodel the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Ben Jacobson, member of Delta Upsilon, described Larson as being “very devoted and determined to finish what he starts. He never does anything halfway.”

Continuation of his work:

Frank Jeffrey, who is running for representation of the 4th Ward, offers the following perception on Larson’s previous candidacy: “Jamie has been a strong voice on the council for growth and has been successful in pushing the city to a somewhat more positive attitude toward that goal. He has strongly pushed the city to adopt a ‘can-do’ attitude when interacting with people and businesses in town. He has shown a skill of asking astute questions at council meetings and framing issues quite clearly.”

This will be Larson’s third term in City Council.

Delta Upsilon President Ryan Francois commented that, “Working with him, I can say he has very strong leadership qualities and steps up to whatever challenge he is faced with. He enjoys being the go-to guy on projects, and has a strong communication skill set.”
