International Student Council will present “My

Perestroika,” a multi-award winning documentary by Robert Hessman,

at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carver Hall. International Movie Night is

one of the many events for International Week.

A panel discussion will take place after the

movie by the Russian Speaking Student Association.

International Student Council is presenting

the movie night to “present the world cultures and the global

perspective via the silver screen,” according to the group’s

website.

Hessman’s documentary has gained worldwide

recognition in a variety of film awards, including selection in the

Camden International Film Festival in 2010 and as a winner in the

2010 Full Fame Documentary Film Festival.

With themes of Russian family and political

systems, the documentary follows the lives of five Russians from

the times of the Soviet Union to its collapse and up until the

present day.
