Cyclones finish season with 1-0 Victory

The ISU soccer team finished its season on a winning note for the second straight year Friday night, beating Missouri, 1-0, in Columbia.

Whether or not the Cyclones qualified for the Big 12 tournament was decided earlier on in the day however, when Oklahoma beat Kansas, 3-0, to secure the final spot in the bracket.

The Tigers won the shot margin, 24-16, but it was sophomore midfielder Emily Goldstein who was able to find the back of the net in the 60th minute to put the Cyclones up, 1-0.

It was Goldstein’s second goal of the season and sophomore keeper Maddie Jobe played all 90 minutes in net and recorded a season-high 11 saves.

With the win, the Cyclones finished 9-9-1 on the year and 2-6 in the Big 12.

Even despite coming within a single win of a Big 12 Tournament bid, the Cyclones will have some holes to fill when senior co-captains Emily Hejlik and Mary Kate McLaughlin depart as well as Amanda Cacciatore and Amanda Mayberry if they play to advance to postseason play in 2012.
