A Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a tree Tuesday while traveling south on the 1200 block of Roosevelt Avenue. Sgt. Dan Walter of the Ames Police Department said officers received a call to the scene of the crash at approximately 11:30 p.m.

The vehicle’s sole passenger was a 21-year-old [corrected from: 22-year old] male, who was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by ambulance with minor injuries. Walter said police had not determined whether the driver would be charged in relation to the crash. The sergeant declined to release the name of the driver until his relatives had been notified.
