No. 12 Iowa State continued its early-season trend of slow starts before regrouping to defeat Colorado in four sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-10) Wednesday night in Boulder, Colo.

The Cyclones (14-4, 7-3 Big 12) stepped up their defensive effort in the second set to drop the Buffaloes’ (6-10, 3-7) hitting percentage from a .389 clip in the first set to a .020 clip in the second set.

Sophomore setter Alison Landwehr contributed a career-high 59 assists, adding to the teams’ overall passing effort that created 10 or more kills for three different Cyclones. Her performance puts her at a team-high 755 assists this season.

Senior Victoria Henson and junior Carly Jenson managed their eighth double-doubles of the season.

Henson recorded a season-high 24 kills with six kills per set while hitting for a .409 clip. Her performance also extended her streak of matches with 10 or more kills to 26. She also recorded 16 digs.

Jenson contributed to the noise with 15 kills and 15 digs in the match while hitting for .262 in the match. The Omaha, Neb., native also notched a service ace, her team-high 17th on the season.

Henson’s kill total put her at 280 kills on the season, a team-high. Her performance inched her closer to the all-time kills record in ISU history, needing only 87 more to reach the mark.

Sophomore Jamie Straube lead all middle blockers, compiling 13 kills with three assisted blocks and one solo block for the cardinal and gold.

Four different Cyclones hit double digits in digs. Senior libero Ashley Mass, who set the all-time Big 12 record in digs last Saturday against Texas A&M, led the team with 22 digs, extending her career total to 2,063.

Henson, Jenson and Landwehr also contributed to the teams’ defensive effort, notching 16, 15 and 12 digs, each respectively.

Iowa State continues its schedule with a rematch against Kansas, a team that had previously snapped its 53-match winning streak against unranked opponents on Oct. 9 in Lawrence, Kan., at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Ames High School.
