They have been chosen. Ten seniors have been honored by being named members of Cardinal Court, and two have been chosen to represent their class as homecoming king and queen.

Cardinal Court “is to recognize and reward the Iowa State students who possess leadership, academic excellence, character, and  campus/community involvement,” said Krystal Castaneda, who is in charge of Cardinal Court for Homecoming 2010. “Applying for this scholarship is also a chance to become part of a Homecoming tradition.

The homecoming king and queen tradition was reintroduced in 2006. Applicants must be undergraduate students with 90 credits or more, and must be have a cumulative GPA of 3.0. After applying, students are interviewed by a judging panel that is reselected every year. The panel decides who should be given the honor through the application and interview process.

The king and queen of homecoming are awarded a $500 dollar  scholarship to put toward their tuition, room and board or books for the next semester. The other eight members of the court will receive a congratulatory certificate and free food on campus during homecoming week. All of the court will be announced at the pep rally Friday on Central Campus from 6 to 8 p.m. and the winners will be presented at the homecoming football game Saturday.
