The Government of the Student Body will be hosting its second meeting of the year at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Union.

The Senate will discuss ratifying contracts with the Story County Analysis of Social Service Team.

“[ASSET] brings together five major funders of human services programs in a collaborative, volunteer-led effort to coordinate local planning, assess needs, evaluate the capabilities of agencies to provide programs and recommend funding for programs,” according to ASSET‘s website.

The GSB has several contracts with ASSET groups including the Assault Care Center Extending Shelter and Support, Ames Community Pre-School Center, Boys and Girls Club of Story County, Camp Fire USA, Child Care Resource Center, Center for Creative Justice, Community & Family Resources, Homeward Home Health Serrvice, Legal Aid Society of Story County, Mid-Iowa Community Action Inc., The Richmond Center, University Community Childcare, Volunteer Center of Story County, and Youth & Shelter Services Inc.

The GSB Senate will also read a bill that will allow the senate to overrule the GSB Finance Committee when dealing with regular allocation budgets.

“In previous years with groups budget, the senate will want to amend a groups budget, but they can’t,” said Sean Morrissey, off-campus senator.

The bill reads that the senate would now be able to overrule the finance committee after they have sent a referral back to the committee at least once.

“This should make it easier for groups and save them some time,” said Jacob Wilson, off-campus senator.

Another bill up for discussion is a GSB University Affairs at-large bylaw update.

The update would allow the university affairs committee to have six at-large voting members instead of two.

“Hopefully this will increase student voices,” Morrissey said.
