With more rainy weather today, and extensive damage to power poles, there are more delays in restoring power to 750 Ames Electric Services customers.

A major storm system moved through Ames early Sunday morning with hail, lightning and wind gusts up to 74 mph. As many as 5,000 Ames residents lost electricity during the storm.

A large outage affecting 600 customers is located near the west Hy-Vee, and includes Beedle Drive, Dotson Drive and Lincoln Swing neighborhoods.

Also, the area north of Lincoln Way and west of North Dakota, Torrey Pines neighborhood, Arizona Avenue near Sawyer School and the neighborhood south of Fellows School are still without power.

All Ames residents without power should report their address to the Ames Electric Services power outage number: 239-5240.

Those still without power after 2 p.m. should report their address again.
