Iowa State spring volleyball enjoyed a successful trip to Northern Iowa to compete in the Northern Iowa Spring Tournament on Saturday.

The Cyclones had matches against Northern Iowa, Iowa and Western Illinois.

Against Northern Iowa, the Cyclones controlled the first set with a convincing 25-18 victory. Northern Iowa finished the 2018 season just outside the top 25 American Volleyball Coaches Association end of the year poll with a 24-10 record. Iowa State finished the season 16-13, but in the first set of their spring volleyball match, it was all Cyclones.

The second set was as even as they come with Northern Iowa countering the first set loss with a 25-23 win. The match ended in a 1-1 set draw.

Iowa State played the Hawkeyes next. The in-state foes met already on April 6, and Iowa was able to secure a 3-1 victory.

This time around, the Cyclones were able to capture one of two sets against Iowa with the first set requiring extra points. Iowa won the first 27-25, and Iowa State took the second 25-19.

The third match of the day for the Cyclones came against Western Illinois. This match proved to be the most lopsided affair with the Cyclones winning both sets. Iowa State won the first set 25-15 and the second set 25-14.

The Cyclones host Missouri and Northern Iowa next on April 20.
