Saturday was another opportunity for the ISU swimming and diving team to improve on its new season as the team faced tough competition against the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill.

The Cyclones were once again led by impressive showings from seniors Nan Liu and Abby Glaser, but they failed to overtake Illinois, who won the meet 173–122.

Liu finished with victories in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke events, along with swimming a leg of the winning 200 medley relay. Glaser, a member of the winning 200 medley, also captured a win as part of the 400 free relay team, while beating out teammate Liu by a miniscule .03 seconds to win the 100-meter butterfly.

The divers were unable to capture a victory, but Tien Tran and Abby Christensen brought home third and fourth in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

The swimming and diving team will continue its search for a victory this Friday against South Dakota and Saturday against South Dakota State.
