The winless Cyclones came close to a victory last weekend against Minnesota, but fell short. Iowa State will try to gain a few tenths and snatch a victory tonight against Iowa.

“I’m just looking for a solid meet, I want to hit 24 routines and I know we can do that. The question is when are we going to do that? I hope it’s right now,” said coach Jay Ronayne.

Iowa State has been preparing for the meet just like any other.

“We approach it as being the same meet as any other one. It’s our big rivalry so we’re all really excited for it and we look forward to being back in front of our home crowd. We looking to get some tenths back and get a higher score,” freshman Michelle Browning said .

The Cyclones have some sense of what to expect out of Iowa due to a pre-season meet with Iowa earlier this year.

“When we had our inner-squad against them before the season started we were really confident and we all felt really strong. They’re a good team but we feel like we can go out there and we can win if we do what we do in the gym. Everyone’s been practicing really well,” junior Jody McKellar said.

Ronayne hopes to see a few special things from a couple Cyclones.

“I’m hoping that Jody McKellar gives us the same sort of performance that she gave us last week,” Ronayne said. “Also it looks, as of this week in practice, that Megan Barnes is getting better and that’s what we’ve been expecting so I hope she has the chance to show us what she really has.”

The Cyclones are looking to score one point in the HyVee Cy-Hawk Series with a win tonight before heading to Iowa City Monday night to face the Hawkeyes again.
