University employees volunteer for furloughs

Daily Staff

According to an Associated Press article, about 250 employees at Iowa State are volunteering to take unpaid leave to help with budget cuts.

The combined furloughs will save about $420,000 or approximately 7 percent of the budget cuts needed.

According to the article, those numbers include the furloughs that will be taken by 28 administrators and four athletic officials.

All of Iowa’s public universities are dealing with budget cuts, but Iowa State is the only one that has turned to furloughs.
