BREAKING: ISU student arrested, charged in connection with double homicide

In a press release issued by the Ames Police Department, police in Pikeville, N.C., have arrested 33-year-old Atiba Spellman, sophomore in computer engineering, in connection to the double homicide that occurred in west Ames on Saturday.

Spellman has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in connection to the deaths of Shakena Varnell, 34, and Michael Odikro, 32, according to the release. He is being held in Wayne County Jail in North Carolina on a $2 million cash bond.
