Winterfest run benefits scholarship

The sound of jingle bells will fill the air Wednesday night as Freshmen Council’s Annual Andy Albright Jingle Jog makes its way to Central Campus.

The Jingle Jog is set to start in conjunction with Winterfest’s Illumination Ceremony at Curtiss Hall. Racers will run as soon as the ceremony concludes and will follow a cross-campus route, highlighting newly-lit areas.

Runners are encouraged to attend the event in full holiday costume and prizes will be given to the best attire.

Andy Albright was a member of Freshmen Council who passed away in a car accident in 2005. The race and scholarship, set up in his name, promote strong student leaders on campus.

“Not only are we honoring the memory of an influential student leader on campus, but we are also giving back to the potential student leaders by raising money for the scholarship” said Kat Mosiman, sophomore in music.

This year will be the first time the scholarship is awarded after three years of planning. The scholarship is awarded to a member of Freshmen Council.
