Peace and Freedom Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader will visit the ISU campus Friday with his vice presidential candidate Matt Gonzalez.

Nader and Gonzalez will discuss the economy and foreign policy Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.

Nader has sought the presidency five times — once as a write-in, twice with the Green Party endorsement, once as an independent and once with the Peace and Freedom Party endorsement.

According to his campaign Web site, Nader began his service as a consumer advocate in 1965 when his first book, Unsafe At Any Speed, was published. Nader’s book criticized the automotive industry and shed light on safety defects in cars.

Nader, also an environmental activist and consumer advocate, wants to, according to his Web site, “shift the power” in America from “corporate interest” back to the common man.
