Democratic incumbent Sen. Tom Harkin and Republican challenger Christopher Reed will square off in a debate Thursday.

Reed, a first-time politician, and Harkin, a political veteran seeking his fifth term, will participate Thursday in a “conversation” moderated by Des Moines Register columnist David Yepsen.

The debate will air at 7 p.m. Thursday on Iowa Public Television.
