Woman, man arrested in slaying of 23 animals

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Hall County officials say two people have been arrested in connection to the deaths of 23 dogs.

A 50-year-old Grand Island man is waiting to be charged Monday with being an accessory to a felony.

Also arrested was an Iowa woman, 45-year-old Denise Withee, of Mapleton. She was cited on three counts of animal abandonment and is awaiting charges.

Twenty carcasses were found and three live dogs. Two died a short time after, and the third died on the way to a veterinary hospital.
